SHIKAMOO!  is a greeting used by a younger person to an older person.  It is a form of respect, acknowledging that the older person, by virtue of age, has wisdom and knowledge,  The older person (moi) repies by saying MARAHABA!  which releases the younger person from their “bowing down”.  Needless to say, Tally and I don’t find many people to say SHIKAMOO to, being as we are older than most folks around here.  But we certainly hear it often and like it.  Coming from a culture that seems not to respect age, it is nice to be around one which does.  MARAHABA!
